Telescopes Available at Libraries

Several Galileoscopes are still available for loan at three branches of the St. Joseph County Public Library (SJCPL). With a library card you can check out the bagged and tagged telescopes from the Main, Tutt, and Francis branches. And it's all free.

The Scope Out South Bend challenge provided the hardy telescopes to eight branches originally, from which there were 121 total circulations. The program, coordinated by Dr. Kate Rueff, was funded by an SB150 grant as part of South Bend's 150th birthday celebration in 2015. The remaining telescopes will be used in ongoing public outreach programs, and you can contact Chuck Bueter to propose a plan.

Thanks go to Linda Conyers and other SJCPL staff who helped prepare the Galileoscopes for circulation and who are sustaining the initiative to get free scopes in the hands of library patrons.
