Smart Telescope For Beginners

With surprising ease, a smart telescope delivers remarkable images for a newcomer to the night sky. With a Seestar S50 telescope the user needs only to level the telescope and then wait a couple minutes for the scope to initialize. It then starts gathering 10-second images consecutively and stacking them to make a brighter resulting image. Wow.
Of course, you can opt to gather many more raw images (longer exposure times) and do your own processing (a new learning curve), which can yield final images that seem to rival giant telescopes. But for the simplest of applications needing the least amount of skill, time, or effort, the smart telescope delivers a rewarding image.
The only downside is sleep deprivation during the day from having been up late at night. Below are some samples I've gathered in my inaugural astrophotography outings in February and March 2026. Out of the box with limited prepping, this is what the S50 can do.
