The 15th Annual Michiana Star Party (MSP-15) hosted by Michiana Astronomical Society will be held at Potawatomi Wildlife Park on October 23-26, 2025. A star party is an opportunity for astronomers and hobbyists to set up telescopes overnight in a dark site to observe the wonders of the universe. Even if you don't own a telescope, the public is invited to attend to take in the spectacle. On Saturday, October 25, astronomers will speak about intriguing exoplanets and star formation.

New to a star party?  See my recap of the 2022 star party or a preview of the 2017 star party.   It can be a great introduction for newcomers to telescopes, with seasoned observers of the night sky sharing their techniques and insights. Deep sky highlights await.

The 2025 star party also offers timely opportunities to see Comet Lemmon pass near the site of the upcoming nova in Corona Borealis. This year's t-shirt design features the outline of Corona Borealis and its star T CrB. I invite you to join me for dedicated storytelling and observing of this starfield after sunset as twilight segues into night.

Star Party Fees include semi-primitive camping at the park where the star party is being held. There are flush toilets and limited showers, but no electricity. One-day passes are only ten dollars. With a Daily pass you can come as early or stay as late as you want, but no overnight camping is allowed with Daily pass.

The annual MAS Star Party in recent years has been hosted by the fine facility at Dr. TK Lawless County Park in Vandalia, MI, in the springtime. In 2025, the party returns to its original roots at Potawatomi Wildlife Park in the autumn, allowing regular attendees to observe a completely different seasonal starfield.

Please bring red flashlights or red headlamps to preserve everyone's night vision.
